The Syrian Studies Association is soliciting nominations for five positions on its Executive Board, to begin in January 2014: President, Webmaster, Bulletin Editor, Member-at-Large, and Graduate Student Representative. This is part of the SSA's new policy of soliciting officer nominations from the membership. Only the office of president will be restricted to past board members, in order to ensure continuity and institutional memory. SSA members can nominate themselves or another member for a Board Position. For information on how to become an SSA member, please visit our webpage at http://www.ou.edu/ssa/member.htm The *President *serves a nonrenewable two-year term. The duties of the President include policy initiation, coordination, management, and fund-raising, all in consultation with the Board. The Webmaster's duties are to maintain the SSA website and keep the website up to date. The *Bulletin Editor* edits and publishes the biannual Syrian Studies Bulletin (for the Bulletin's editorial policies, please click HERE<https://ojcs.siue.edu/ojs/index.php/ssa/about>). He or she will also appoint and support a Book Review Editor. When necessary the Bulletin Editor may seek assistance from the Board and membership with article ideas, editing, and proofreading. The Bulletin Editor serves a renewable three-year term. The *Member-at-Large* participates in all business of the board and acts as the Elections Officer in the first year of his or her term. Duties of the Elections Officer include soliciting nominations for board positions and preparing a ballot to circulate to the membership in advance of the MESA annual meeting. The Member-at-Large carries two year term. The *Graduate Student Representative* shall serve a nonrenewable two-year term. All paid up members of the SSA are welcome to nominate themselves or any other paid up member for any of these positions. Once nominations have been received, the Elections Officer will contact nominees to determine their willingness to run. A ballot will be circulated to the membership in the early fall. Nominations must be received by *September 9, 2013*. Winners will be announced at the SSA Business Meeting at the MESA Annual Meeting in October.
