CfP: “The Syrian Uprisings: Reflections on the Past Two Years”, Syrian Studies Association Bulletin The Syrian Studies Association Bulletin invites feature, news, and research article proposals for its forthcoming issue, which will focus on the theme: “The Syrian Uprisings: Reflections on the Past Two Years”. We seek short abstracts (50-200 words) from scholars and practitioners who work in or on Syria and related issues, including human rights, journalism, military studies, international relations, archeology, media studies, trauma and conflict, etc. The deadline for final article submissions will be April 15, 2013; the bulletin will be published in May 2013. (Word counts are flexible but generally range from 500-1500 for research notes, 1000-3000 for features, and 500-1500 for news or other pieces.) Please send abstracts to Editor Andrea L Stanton (andrea.l.stanton at gmail dot com) by Friday, March 15. (Authors wishing to have a Syria-related book reviewed or those wishing to write book reviews are encouraged to contact Book Review Editor Beverly Tsacoyianis at balevine at wustl dot edu.) Contributors are not required to be members of the Syrian Studies Association (SSA); graduate student contributions are welcome. ******** The SSA is an international association organized to encourage and promote research and scholarly understanding of Syria in all periods and in all academic disciplines. The SSA is a non-profit, non-political association affiliated with MESA (the Middle East Studies Association of North America). The SSA defines its area of interest as the lands included in historical Bilad al-Sham until the end of the First World War and Syria after 1919.
