I, too, looked for these archives as recently as June 2011. At the time, the municipal library was still closed for renovation, although we managed to speak with a librarian. We were told that the former index of the library was no longer functional and once the library reopened (then scheduled for July or August 2011) they would begin to index anew. It was suggested it might be as long as 2 years before they knew exactly which documents the library held again. Additionally, the librarian thought these particular archives might have been moved to the governate building and therefore burned with it in Jan/Feb 2011, although no one was sure. If you find out any further information, please add me to the list of those who would be grateful to know more. Thanks.
