Hi Ellen,

I would look at:

Universelle and the Politics of Jewish Schooling in Turkey, 1860-1925.
*Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 1990.

 Frances Malino has one or two articles on women teachers in the Alliance
schools and has a book due to come out as well. Michael Laskier has also
written some articles about the schools in the Middle East and North
Africa.
