MARI MUJICA’S ORAL HISTORIES AND PHOTOGRAPHS FEATURED IN TRANS GENDER LIVES, TRANS GENDER IMAGES opens 5 PM, Saturday, November 21st Clare Hirn Studio E. Market Street, Louisville "Trans Gender Lives, Trans Gender Images: Documenting the Lives, Struggles, and Diversity of the Trans Gender Community in Kentucky" is an on going documentary project that raises awareness and understanding of the fluidity of gender and of the life and struggles of transgender people in Kentucky. The interactive exhibit, which includes photographs of the series "The Way We Were" produced by Mexican photographer Rogelio Pereda; a performance led by playwright Basil Kreimendahl; and oral histories and photographs produced by Mari Mujica, opens at 5 PM, Saturday, November 21st at Clare Hirn Studio on E. Market Street in downtown Louisville with a performance at 7 PM. This project was partially funded by a 2009 Arts Meets Activism grant. A sneak preview of the exhibit and performance will take place at the Cultural Center at the University of Louisville on November 19, beginning at 5:30 PM and followed by a performance at 6:30 PM and a reception at 7 PM. The exhibit at Clare Hirn Studio will continue until Sunday, November 29. The exhibit is part of International Transgender Day of Remembrance at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
