Grand Valley State University's History Department presents the 34th Annual
Great Lakes History Conference 2009
All conference events will be held at the Robert C. Pew Campus of Grand Valley
State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The evening events are free and
open to the public. There is a registration fee for the Saturday conference,
which includes the luncheon and Saturday keynote address. Parking is available
at the GVSU Fulton and Front Street Lots. Seating for all events is limited.

Movie: We Shall Remain: Episode V - Wounded Knee - followed by a firsthand
discussion with Dennis Banks.

Theme: Indigenous Peoples of the Globe: Colonization & Adaptation
Scholars from a wide range of fields and disciplines will present ideas and
research relating to the conference theme.
12:45 p.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Keynote Address: Dr. Ned Blackhawk, Yale University
5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A reception follows the conference at the Grand Rapids Public Museum, including
a special tour of the Anishinaabe exhibit.
