Colleagues, Please invite your talented undergraduate students to submit an application to serve as an external reviewer for Stance: an international undergraduate philosophy journal <http://stance.iweb.bsu.edu> The mission of Stance is to enrich student learning by providing an opportunity for undergraduate students to have their original scholarly work reviewed by or published in a peer-reviewed academic journal. We believe Stance is the premier undergraduate philosophy journal. Among our marks of distinction are: Stance has an International Standard Serial Number registered with the U. S. Library of Congress. We are the only undergraduate journal indexed in The Philosopher's Index. To our knowledge, we are the only undergraduate philosophy journal employing external reviewers. Our rejection rate is approximately 90 percent. External reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of Stance. All papers are carefully considered by multiple reviewers (both from our internal review board and external reviewers). Using a blind review process, we provide both submitters and reviewers a pre-professional learning opportunity to interact with a community of peers, which should further prepare students for future careers in philosophy. Each reviewer will be credited in both the electronic and high quality print version of the journal. Below are both the External Reviewer Application and the Letter of Recommendation form (to be completed by a philosophy professor familiar with the student). The DEADLINE for both is NOVEMBER 6, 2009. As a journal entirely produced and edited by undergraduates, only students who are enrolled undergraduates in January 2010 are eligible. Reviewers may submit a manuscript for publication as well. We make sure that no reviewer works on his/her own paper. Please direct all questions to stance@bsu.edu. Thanks, David W.
