Dear Tyler, Anecdotal information supports your theory. For example, North Albany, NY, was called Limerick because so many people who settled there originated in Limerick. And, in Danbury, CT., many of the Irish immigrants originated in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim. I, too, however, have been unable to find scholarly studies documenting such residential patterns for the Irish. If you come up with some information, I would be most happy if you'd share it with me and members of the listserv. All the best, Peggy -- Margaret Lynch-Brennan, Ph.D. Independent Scholar and NY State Education Dept., Ret. 7 Morgan Way Latham, NY 12110 518-783-7327 firstname.lastname@example.org
