Dear Colleagues, Please find below a reminder and CFP for the International conference "Chinese Workers in the First World War" which will be held in Boulogne-sur-mer (France) and Ypres (Belgium) – 26-30 May 2010. The deadline for submission of abstracts to the International Conference on Chinese Workers in the WW1 has been extended to November 20, 2009. The conference is organized in Boulogne-sur-mer (France) and Ypres (Belgium) from May 26-30, 2010. We remind you that more information on the conference as well as on the online abstract submission procedure can be found on our website: http://www.iccwww1.org/Conference-2010 A list of abstracts already received is already online; this list will be completed soon with the most recent abstracts. This conference deals with illiterate Chinese workers that were sent to France during the First World War. They stayed in France during 3 to 5 years and during this stay they were subject to education by the YMCA and other education programs supervised by the French government. They were as such pioneers of intercultural experience between Europe and China and their education is believed to have had influence on their subsequent political activism when they returned to China. I would be very pleased if you agree to post this CFP to the H-Education list. Do not hesitate to contact us for more information. Looking forward to meeting you in Boulogne-sur-mer in May 2010. Sincerely yours, The Organizers. Dr. MA Li Maître de conférences/associate professor Université du Littoral Côte d'Opale http://www.iccwww1.org/Conference-2010
