Sent: 05 November 2009 10:52 To: H-EARLYSLAVIC@H-NET.MSU.EDU Subject: query about inscription When I was in Moscow recently I visited the monument to Cyril and Methodius. One of the inscriptions on the pedestal reads: Vy zhe chada v"zliublenaia poslushaite ucheniia bozhiia iezhe v" poslednaia vremena predano byst' vashego radi spaseniia I thought this was a line from the Life of Methodius or the PVL version thereof -- but it's not an exact match. I have not found an explanation in the reportage about the monument. Where is this variant from? Thanks in advance, Brian Dr. Brian Bennett Chair and Associate Professor Department of Religious Studies Niagara University Lewiston, NY 14109 716.286.8454 http://www.niagara.edu/rs/bennett.htm
