Deadline extended to January 17, 2014! The History Graduate Student Association at Virginia Tech is pleased to announce a call for papers for the 17th Annual Brian Bertoti Innovative Perspectives in History Graduate Conference. This interdisciplinary conference will be held at the Virginia Tech Graduate Life Center in Blacksburg, on March 21-22, 2014. The conference will begin on Friday with a keynote address by Dr. Margaret Jacobs of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on her most recent book *White Mother to a Dark Race: Settler Colonialism, Maternalism, and the Removal of Indigenous Children in the American West and Australia, 1880-1940*. On Saturday, Dr. W. Fitzhugh Brundage, a Distinguished Lecturer of the Organization of American History and a professor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will present his lecture on culture and memory of the Civil War. Please submit a one-page abstract and a brief CV no later than January 17, 2014. For a limited time, free double occupancy hotel accommodations will be offered to submitters for the night of March 21, convenient to Virginia Tech.
