Dear Colleagues:

I have to convey very sad news. Professor Tadashi Aruga (b. 1931) passed
away on 13 March 2013.

He served as president of the Japanese Association for American Studies
and that of the Japan Association of International Relations. He is
undoubtedly the best scholar of US-Japan relations.

I would like to offer sincere condolences over the death of Professor
Tadashi Aruga. The funeral will be conducted in Fuchu city, Tokyo at
10:00 A.M. on 20 March.
