I hope to form a panel to discuss the history of U.S. involvement in and
conceptions of the Pacific region for SHAFR's 2013 conference.  I am
particularly interested in building a panel that considers changing
American perceptions of space and U.S. projection of power across the
Pacific.

My own work examines the history of U.S.-Hawai'i relations in the late
nineteenth century and the importance of trade networks between Hawai'i and
the U.S. Pacific Coast.  Please email me at larry.kessler@temple.edu if you
