[Please send any direct responses to Katja Wuestenbecker at katja.wuestenbecker@uni-jena.de Any historiographical notes can be sent to the H-Diplo listserv.] From: "Katja Wuestenbecker" <katja.wuestenbecker@uni-jena.de> Date: Thu, November 5, 2009 9:01 am Dear colleagues, I will be teaching a workshop called "Comparing the United States and Canada" in a few weeks. There are a few open questions for which I would like to ask for your help: 1. I will be using Stompin' Tom's song "Blue Berets". Do you know of any song that could be used as an equivalent for the U.S. army? 2. His song "Believe in your country" harshly critizes Canadians for moving south. Is there a song about Americans moving up north (i.e. during the Vietnam War)? 3. Could you recommend a movie or documentary which compares the two countries? I am afraid most German students do not know much about Canada, which is one of the reasons why I wanted to teach this course. Thanks, Katja -- Dr. Katja Wuestenbecker Historisches Institut Friedrich-Schiller-Universitaet Jena/ Webster University, Vienna
