I would suggest for a Wold War II course the following book. AJP Taylor, The Second World War: An Illusrated History, Penguin, 1975. It is 235 pages including about 300 photos. It covers the major battles and the events of the war evenly, unlike some of the other books suggested, and is engrossing, vivid and the maps, photos and paintings make it a lavish publication. It also introduces students to one of the greatest historians of the 20th century. This is the standard text used in the UK and Australia, as far as I am aware. very best, Andrekos Varnava PhD Candidate Department of History University of Melbourne Melbourne 3010 firstname.lastname@example.org
