Last week I asked H-DIPLO members to suggest a good book on World War II for me to assign next semester. Several of you replied, and I thank you for your suggestions. One person asked me to post the final list for everybody, so here they are: Michael C. C. Adams, The Best War Ever: America and World War II (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1994) Gary Hess, The United States at War, 1941-1945 (2nd edition, Harlan Davidson, 2000) Michael J. Lyons, World War II: A Short History (3rd edition, Prentice Hall, 1998) Robert Maddox, The United States and World War II (Westview Press, 1991) Richard Overy, Why the Allies Won (W. W. Norton, 1997) R A C Parker, The Second World War: A Short History (Oxford UP, 2001) Again, thanks to everybody for your advice. Kelly Gray Assistant Professor of History Towson University
