I would suggest Michael Adams' "The Best War Ever: America and World War II," (Johns Hopkins University Press: 1994). It is highly readable and accessible to undergraduate students. It offers a nicely synthesized overview of the conflict and effectively challenges a number of myths surrounding World War II. Francois Le Roy
