To: H-CITIZENSHIP@H-NET.MSU.EDU Sent: Friday, November 13, 2009 Subject: Query: Citizenship over the life span I am working with some students doing research on various theories of citizenship. A question has come up that I wanted to post to the list. T.H. Marshall is well known for his theories of social citizenship and evolutions of citizenship over time. I am not aware of any theorists who have outlined a similar theory of how citizenship changes over the life of an individual from rights-based citizenship in childhood, to obligations in early adulthood to social citizenship in old age. I wondered if anyone on the list is aware of any specific theorist who has published this argument? Thank you in advance for any suggestions members of the list might have. Sincerely, Cherstin Dr. Cherstin M. Lyon California State University, San Bernardino
