Title: Honoring the Child, Honoring Equity 14: Embracing diverse identities Date: 2014-11-21 Description: We hope you can join us for the 2014 Honoring the Child, Honoring Equity conference from Friday 21 November to Saturday 22 November 2014 at The University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia. The Call for Papers is now open and the deadline for proposals is 1 June 2014. We invite seminars, colloquia and workshops that explore the issues and questions that address the broad conference themes in the early childhood and children's services field. Papers that explore these themes as they apply to pedagogies, practices, programs, policies, theories and research will be especially welcomed. We invite papers that share stories of hope, challenge and/or change in relation to these themes and that inspire others to work for change within their areas of responsibility in children's services and early childhood. We invite proposals that explore the following questions: How can we explore identities in a changing world (including but not limited to gender, culture, religion, linguistics, ability and environment)? What are the narratives of and for diverse identities? How can we explore localised identities in globalised contexts? What are the challenges to exploring diverse identities with young children? What are the ways forward in policy and practice? How are educators exploring children’s identities in everyday practice? What are the possibilities and challenges? What theories help to recognise and support multiple identities for children and families in research, policy and practice? What are the identity narratives for educators working with curriculum and policy documents? How can parents and families share their identity narratives? The conference is an annual international conference attended by academics, activists, professionals and policy makers. Some delegates return annually, some will be attending for the first time.
