Dear List Members,
My name is Abby Sherkow and the president of Helicon, the art
history club at the University of Michigan. Helicon promotes art through
museum trips, lecture series, and a spring break trip. The spring break trip
is an exciting opportunity to expose student to the art and culture of
different countries that they normally would be unable to travel to on their
own. With one faculty member and a GSI, a small group of students from the
club get to experience lectures in museums, historical, and architectural
sights. Past trips have included Paris, Mexico City, New York, and Spain.
This year we are thinking to travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico. We are very
excited to help explore a different culture and art form, not normally
learned in an academic setting.
I was hoping that you could help provide me with suggestions and comments
regarding the art, sights, transportation, and any hostel/hotels that you
are familiar with. Also if there are any local professors or artists that I
can be in touch with.
Thank you very much,
Abby Sherkow
