Giles Milton, Nathaniel's Nutmeg: Or the True and Incredible
Adventures of the Spice Trader Who Changed the Course of History

Brian Fagan, Fish on Friday: Feasting, Fasting, and the Discovery of
the New World.

Both relate to larger geopolitical (Fagan's book also incorporates
climate change as well) issues and how this transformed cultural and
dietary trends.
