H-ASIA August 16, 2012 Position: Hindi/South Asian Studies, Assistant Professor (tenure- track), The Ohio State University ******************************************************************** From: H-Net Job Guide: JOB GUIDE NO.: https://www.h-net.org/jobs/job_display.php?id=45012 Ohio State University, Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures Assistant Professor, Hindi Institution Type: College / University Location: Ohio, United States Position: Assistant Professor Assistant Professor of Hindi The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures and the South Asian Studies Initiative of The Ohio State University announce the availability of a tenure-track assistant professor position in Hindi language and culture beginning in August 2013. The primary responsibility for the holder of this position will be Hindi language instruction at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels, though there will be the expectation of teaching some courses on related topics in South Asian studies (e.g. Introduction to South Asia). The successful candidate is expected to pursue an active program of research and publication, be it in language pedagogy or in another field. In addition, since this position is an integral part of an emerging program in South Asian Studies, the person hired will be expected to interact with other South Asianists on campus, to work towards the development of the South Asian Studies program (e.g. through the orchestration of Hindi-oriented events, through the creation of a Hindi-language minor, through encouragement of study abroad programs in South Asia, and through other similar activities), to advise undergraduates interested in Hindi, India, and South Asia more generally and graduate students with research interests in the region, and to serve as a liaison to the large and burgeoning South Asian community of Central Ohio.
