The Changing Faces of Appalachia: Problems, Promises, and Perspectives



The Filson Historical Society



Nov. 12-14, 2009



Please join The Filson Historical Society as we explore the past,
present, and future of Appalachia.  Despite deeply embedded and
media-created stereotypes, Appalachia is a region rich in natural
resources, strong communities, and a deep love of the land.  It is a
region that gives Kentucky much of its identity.



We will engage in dialogue, experience the music, and watch films
addressing the struggles and strivings of the territory and its people.
We will wrestle with the idea that after some forty years, billions of
dollars and hours poured into the region, has much changed at all?
