I should like to broaden the search and relate anti-Semitism to both misogyny and misanthropy. When you consider that half of "mankind" are women it should not be a surprise that people who despise humanity and who are, like most bullies, inclined not "to pick on people their own size," i.e, to look for more vulnerable samples of humanity, that among the targets which arise through such a lens are (a) womankind and (b) Jews. I look forward to reading Clare's study of the Symbolists.
