This smacks of Nazism. The Nazis arbitrarily decided who was a Jew. Is the British government going down the same road? Christianity doesn't discriminate based on ancestry, so the court's example is bogus. It is, historically, a religion of converts. Baptism, either as a child or as an adult, is sufficient for most schools. More fundamentalist Christian schools also require a statement of faith that one has accepted Jesus as one's Savior. If there are that many liberal Jews applying to this orthodox school, perhaps they should form another school. It is apparent there are not enough Jewish schools in Great Britain to meet the needs of the Jewish community. Of course, there would need to be teachers. Can the parents of these children step in to help? Do private schools in Great Britain require the same certification for teachers as do public schools, and how hard is it to obtain? It would be a lot of work, but if it ensures that their children get a good Jewish education, it would be worth it. Mrs. Alice Kell Co-Moderator, EEJH -- Yocheved Menashe List Editor, H-Antisemitism
