On February 17-18 at Southwestern University (just outside of Austin, Texas) I am hosting a conference focusing on "Real" Animals and the Humanities. Dr. Marc Bekoff (U of Colorado, Boulder), Dr. Paul Waldau (Harvard and formerly Director of Ethics program at Tufts Veterinary School), and Carol Adams (author of "The Sexual Politics of Meat") will all be speaking on Wednesday, February 17. Then on the morning of Thursday, February 18 we will have a scholars round-table with Marc, Paul, Carol and any other interested parties. If you are a scholar in Texas interested in Animal Studies and if you would like to attend, please contact me. I have funding to cover travel expenses, lodging, and meals. We hope to begin conversations among this interdisciplinary group that will lead to publications, networking, etc...
