Hi Janet,
Benjamin DeMott and Paul Lauter both have anthologies on class in US literature
that would be worth looking through. Also, do you know Gavin Jones's
interesting book American Hungers: The Problem of Poverty in US Literature,
1840-1945 (Princeton, 2008)?
