Afro-Americans in New York Life and History (AANYLH) is seeking reviewers for books about or relating to black life in New York State. AANYLH reviews books, films and exhibitions in history and related fields (e.g., sociology, education, anthropology, law, literature, and cultural studies). To be qualified, a reviewer should either have or be pursuing an advanced degree in history or a related field, professional experience in teaching, or publications in the field. The following books are currently available for review: Alexander, Leslie M. African or American? : Black Identity and Political Activism in New York City, 1784-1861. Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 2008. Bradley, Stefan M. Harlem Vs. Columbia University : Black Student Power in the Late 1960s. Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 2009. Corbould, Clare. Becoming African Americans : Black Public Life in Harlem, 1919-1939. Cambridge, Mass.: Harvard University Press, 2009. Norrell, Robert J. Up from History : The Life of Booker T. Washington. Cambridge, Mass.: Belknap Press of Harvard University Press, 2009. Wilson, Jamie Jaywann. Building a Healthy Black Harlem : Health Politics in Harlem, New York, from the Jazz Age to the Great Depression. Amherst, N.Y.: Cambria Press, 2009.
