First, my apologies. I know that the term "Africa" and its etymology has been debated to death on this list over many years and I do not intend to resurrect old debates or go over old territory. This is a simple innocent inquiry/request. I would really appreciate it if someone would point me to a text ( journal article, commentary, book chapter, or similar writings) that deals with the origin and evolution of the term "Africa." An added bonus would be a text that also deals with the term's subsequent appropriations as a geographic, political, and even racial referent. I need a text that is pedagogically suitable for an undergraduate seminar that I will be teaching next semester. On- or off-list responses are welcome. Thanks in advance Moses Ochonu Vanderbilt University
