*From the Program in African and African American Studies: * *In Memoriam *Kennell Jackson Professor of History at Stanford University (1941-2005) With great sadness we announce the passing of Professor Kennell Jackson. He died peacefully at the Stanford University Medical Center on November 21, 2005. Jackson's leadership and involvement in the Program in African and African American Studies (AAAS) stretched over a thirty-five year period, that included nine years as AAAS Director, from 1980-89. During this time he established the Undergraduate Scholars Program (1986). We will miss our friend, mentor, and scholar. We honor his life of service and celebrate his passion as a teacher and scholar. A memorial service will be held in January.
