Dear Colleagues,

I am deeply saddened and shocked by the passing of Ruth
Simms Hamilton. She was a good colleague in the broadest
sense and a pioneer in the now teeming field of Afro-Latin
culture. I was especially affected by her death. This
morning, before opening my email, I looked at a floppy disc
she had sent me and to which I was going to reply.

There is never time enough.
