Death has been announced of Mr Steve Simon Mwiyeriwa who
passed away last night round about 22.30 pm in Zomba after
an illness.  The late Steve joined the University of Malawi
as Assistant librarian in 1970. In 1973 he was appointed
Malawi Government Archivist, the position he held up to 1983
when he was appointed University of Malawi Librarian the
position held up to last night on 27th November, 2003.

Steve was a founding member of the Malawi Library
Association where he served in various capacities. As
University of Malawi Librarian he was an ex-officio member
of the the Malawi Library Association Executive Committee,
the posotion which enabled him to contribute very valuably
to the Library Profession. He participated a lot in SCECSAL
activities and was a member of SCANUL - ECS Steve was also a
member of ECARBICA the time he served as Governent
Archivist.

Steve has left behind his wife Chrissy, four daughters and
of course the Library profession fraternity.  May his soul
rest in peace.
