<email@example.com> As someone who has worked in the Dakar archives and the French colonial archives for almost 40 years, I can underline that the archives in Aix contain only a fraction of what is available in Dakar. In the 19th century, in particular, colonial governors wanted to control what their overlords in Paris knew about what they were doing. With a better ordered bureaucracy after the arrival of Ernest Roume in 1902, more got shipped to Paris, but still only a fraction of what was being collected within Africa. Saliou M'Baye has been adding to these collections for a number of years. He is very dedicated archivist and much appreciated by those of us who have benefitted from his work.
