We are seeking an historian of the African American experience with specialties in intellectual, social, and cultural movements in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Candidates should be well versed in United States history as well as traditional and more recent youth related influences, such as Hip Hop that bridge matters of gender, sexuality and the politics of incarceration. The successful candidate must able to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. Required: Ph.D. by May 2010; Recent African American history Preferred: Specialization in African American history; U.S. Intellectual, Social, and Cultural Movements; the Social Sciences; Black Popular Culture.
