---------------------------- Original Message ---------------------------- Subject: ANN: The Chamberlain Case From: "Michelle Arrow" <Michelle.Arrow@humn.mq.edu.au> Date: Wed, November 18, 2009 8:58 am To: H-ANZAU@H-NET.MSU.EDU -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This new book may be of interest to H-ANZAU members: JUST RELEASED BY AUSTRALIAN SCHOLARLY PUBLISHING The Chamberlain Case: Nation, Law, Memory Edited by Deborah Staines, Michelle Arrow, and Katherine Biber The Lindy Chamberlain trial dominated the media landscape in the 1980s as a major miscarriage of justice unfolded. As we approach the 30th anniversary of the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain in 2010, The Chamberlain Case collects the key scholarly, legal, media and autobiographical texts about the case, delivering a comprehensive account of the case's intricacies, including the forensic evidence, prejudicial media coverage, scapegoating and religious vilification. Lindy Chamberlain relates her experiences of the trial, and there are contributions by eyewitnesses, members of the Chamberlain defence, academic experts and distinguished authors, as well as extracts from each of the eight judicial findings. The Chamberlain case is one that continues to resonate with Australians, and The Chamberlain Case: Nation, Law, Memory explains why. Dr Michelle Arrow MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY NSW 2109
